Ludhiana: Adarsh Public School organised an English and Hindi calligraphy competition to improve Presentation skills and inculcate the habit of good handwriting among its students. Around 60 students of Class VI to IX participated in this event. Principal said handwriting skills reflect the personality of a person and such competitions taught students about the unique structure and beauty of languages.

Industrial visit organised

A visit to Ludhiana beverages Private Limited unit II, Jaspalon Doraha, was organised by Ryan entrepreneur club. The visit provided a first-hand experience to students and they got to see the automatic execution of the various operations of the beverages making, right from sugar syrup making to ready syrup formation, to mixing with the concentrate and dilution to bottling. The concept of corporate social responsibility was also explained to them. This gave students an industrial exposure which would inspire them to consider entrepreneurship as another scope for their careers.

Form assembly organised

Sat Paul Mittal School held a form assembly, Moana, for students of Class VI, which proved to be a perfect example of taking a shift from student engagement to student empowerment. Instead of being given a road map, the students found their own routes by not only performing but also successfully organizing the form assembly. The middle school students brought out their best in the portrayal of the awe-inspiring story. Students dug deep into their own independent selves to bring out their unique strengths and played out beautifully the theme of the young independent Moana, who was confident to explore the unexplored and fearless in her endeavours.

Rakhi Making Competition

Green Land Covent School, Sector-32, Chandigarh Road, organised a rakhi-making competition for student of primary and senior wing. The motive behind organising this competition was to enhance the skills of creativity, competence and nurturing the inner talent of young ones, and to tell them the importance of the festival. Students made rakhis with colourful ribbons, glitters, mirrors and craft papers. Toddlers made rakhis with the help of their teachers. Students of Class VIII to X made beautiful cards for soldiers to express their gratitude on the occasion of Rakhsha Bandhan. Children also expressed their feelings through beautiful messages in the form of write-ups. All students participated with great zeal and zest.

Raksha Bandhan celebrated

In the wake of increasing incidents of kidnapping, DAV, BRS Nagar, took an initiative in safeguarding the lives of young girls under its care. The festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in a unique way under the guidance of Principal JK Sidhu. The school organised a rakhi exhibition, displaying handmade rakhis. Girls tied rakhis to bus drivers and conductors, who promised to ensure the safety on the way to school and back.

Teej Celebrations

Teej was celebrated at Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Daad, with great zeal and zest on the school campus. The campus was decorated with beautiful and colourful flags and flowers. Swings were also set up. Students were dressed in beautiful Punjabi attires. A cultural function with enthraling dance performances was also organised. 

Guru Nanak Public School

Girls junior and senior wing of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, celebrated the festival of Teej with full enthusiasm. The school was decorated with phulkaries, charkhas and hand fans. Students’ depicted scenes showing rich Punjabi culture. A cultural programme was also organised comprising giddha and bhangra performances, and singing folk songs and boliyan. Children came in colourful traditional dresses and danced on Punjabi beats. They enjoyed eating Punjabi traditional sweet dishes. Bhupinder Singh Saran, president of the school and Principal Ravi Kant said by celebrating such traditional festivals at school, the students became aware of their rich culture and heritage. 

English Declamation Competition

An English declamation competition for students of Class III to VI was held at GHG Public Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Khurd. The contest consisted of two groups. The first group comprised students of Class III and IV, and the second group cmprised students of Class V and VI. A total of 26 students participated with great zeal and enthuthusiasm. Prizes were given away by the Principal Pawan Sood. Participation certificates were also given to students. From first group, Amrit Kaur of Class IV bagged first position and Manveer Kaur of Class VI came first in the secon group. TNS
